Tū Whakaruruhau:
The New Zealand Methamphetamine Treatment Evaluation study

About the study

A team of Māori and Pākehā researchers want to hear from whaiora (someone seeking wellness) and have experience with meth.

We believe every journey with meth, whether you are trying to cut down or give up, or have been living with using for a while, holds valuable insights that can guide us towards more effective support and interventions.

Why share your story?

By sharing your lived experience, you empower our research with real-world insights.

Tū Whakaruruhau means to stand as a protection, to be a beacon of manaakitanga.

This understanding is pivotal in shaping future support structures, interventions, and community awareness initiatives.

Your Story, Your Voice

The study involves four interviews over a 2-year period. Every story you share will be received with respect and confidentiality. We are committed to creating an environment where you can speak openly and without judgment.

Before you agree to participate, we'll provide a clear outline of the questions we'll explore together, and the purpose behind the study's findings. Know that you can withdraw from participation at any point.

The narratives uncovered in this study will empower our community, amplifying the voices of those living with addiction and enhancing the support they receive.
